In the area of sports, the Spanish party PP has undertaken in its election programme to tackle the project for the construction of an indoor swimming pool by the end of 2023. According to as yet unconfirmed sources, the city councillors have now approved the budget for realisation of the project. The location of the indoor pool is to be in Gran Alacant. The implementation is part of the strategy to create innovative sports infrastructures in Gran Alacant in order to distinguish itself from other municipalities and to become a high-performance centre for water sports.
