According to a recent meeting at Santa Pola Town Council, the improvement of the postal service and the local post office in Av. Escandinàvia in Gran Alacant was discussed.
All parties concerned as well as the Mayor of Santa Pola Loreto Serrano attended the meeting. Over the last year the council has reiterated several times the problem of the postal service in Gran Alacant, about which numerous complaints have been received from both the neighbourhood association and private individuals.
It was agreed that a proposal would be presented to adapt and improve the facilities and the possibility of extending the opening hours.
In addition, all parties agreed to work together to achieve more efficient distribution, which is sometimes hindered by the numbering, signage and location of the various urbanisations. The proposal to set up “CityPaq” collection points to alleviate the volume of mail is also being considered.
Gran Alacant has a current registered population of almost 10,000 people, but in reality there are many more citizens living in Gran Alacant when foreigners and second homes are taken into account. This situation, as well as the increase in online commerce, leads to an increasing volume of parcels and mail.
